Big Boy Bed

So as some of you may have seen through Insta we have decided to put Harry in his first proper bed.

So Harry is 21 months old and a big character to say the least. On Friday we decided to try him in him in his first toddler bed as we had reached the end of our tether with him waking us up by headbutting the cot rather then just calling out for us.

We let him choose his bed in IKEA and a new cushion for it as well. He chose a lovely little beech wooden bed, a big lion cushion and he also fell in love with the tent to go above his bed (which was a bargain £5). We hoped this would make him more excited to sleep in it. We let him and his brother help daddy to take down the cot and to help build his new bed, to ensure he really knew that he would have his bed that night.

Well it worked! He is excited to show people his new bed and has slept amazingly in it since.

We still have the headbutting situation to try and solve. The first few nights he slept well and woke us up crying, but we have gone back to headbutting the little guard rail. So that will be our next challenge to show him that he can get out of bed himself and come to us. Any suggestions would be amazing on how to tackle that.

The teddies and pillows are to cushion his fall in case he does topple out.

Fingers crossed he continues to sleep well in it !
